Hu and his team asked how these pumpkins can get so large without breaking. The results of this research were featured on the NPR show "Science Friday". The research asked about the speeds at which animals should shake to dry themselves off. This research has the potential to make washing machine design more efficient, and links with the Hu Lab's interests in biologically inspired design.
