We are delighted to have you as a Tech parent and look forward to working with you throughout your student’s academic career at Tech. The Division of Student Affairs at Georgia Tech has a rich and strong history of providing the student support services and co-curricular learning opportunities that help our diverse student community acquire and apply life-learning skills. The college years are pivotal and formative: much of what students learn is garnered outside of the classroom and is equally important in preparing them for success after graduation. As your freshman begins an academic career at Tech, we encourage you and your student to engage in the variety of support services available, not only to help make this a successful transition to Tech, but also to gain a well-rounded, fulfilling learning experience.

The Division of Student Affairs at Georgia Tech consists of an array of comprehensive student support departments that strive to promote the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of our students. Our primary focus is to engage students throughout their college career in programs which promote:
* Student leadership
* Healthy lifestyles
* Student transition and academic success
* Cultural awareness and educational growth

The results of student involvement in these activities are quite compelling. It has been widely documented that students who are involved in academic and co-curricular activities benefit more from their college experience than students who are not as involved. Recent data from the National Survey on Student Engagement (NSSE) revealed that 47 percent of Georgia Tech freshmen and 67 percent of seniors were actively involved in community service or volunteer work. Furthermore, 47 percent of freshmen and 41 percent of seniors surveyed in 2008 reported spending 6 or more hours per week participating in many of the co-curricular activities provided through the Division of Student Affairs.

We encourage you to visit our departments listed below and explore all the enriching programs and opportunities available to your student.
