Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Provides Unique Educational Resume

Rebecca Keane
Communications Officer, Ivan Allen College

Students majoring in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts (IAC) www.iac.gatech.edu at Georgia Tech are highly driven achievers. They are here because they want to study in a unique, leading-edge liberal arts program offering distinctive curricular choices and robust opportunities for practical, relevant extracurricular experiences.

Alumni of Ivan Allen College tell us that they embark upon their careers with a distinct advantage: Their studies challenged them to engage both sides of their brains -- the practical, quantitative, and problem-solving side and the broad, qualitative, and aesthetic side that is a hallmark of training in the humanities and social sciences. This makes an education in the liberal arts at Georgia Tech unique, providing graduates with an invaluable foundation for thinking and working across many realms, a hallmark of today’s creative leaders.

Learning in the College is further distinguished by an innovative approach to teaching humanities and social sciences that centers on three core themes:
1. A focus on science and technology in political, social, and cultural context
2. A global perspective
3. The Ivan Allen Jr., legacy of courageous, ethical leadership

These international experiences are a significant advantage for graduates with a goal of working for transnational companies who need employees with experience and understanding of other languages, cultures, and mores.
