Daniels in a national leader for the advancement of women in science\nand engineering.\u0026nbsp; She has been at the helm of the the nation\u0027s most\nsignificant programs and initiatives for women in the sciences.\u0026nbsp; Daniels\nis immediate past Director of the Clare Boothe Luce Program at the Henry Luce\nFoundation--the single most significant private source of support for women in\nthe sciences, mathematics, and engineering.\u0026nbsp; She was the founding\npresident of the Women in Engineering Pro-Active Network (WEPAN); Program\nDirector of the National Science Foundation\u0027s Program for Women and Girls\n(while on leave from Purdue); and for more than 20 years, the Director of the\nWomen in Science Engineering Program at Purdue University, the first program\nfor women in engineering in the United States.\u0026nbsp; \u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nJane Daniels is the author of more than 60 articles and chapters on gender,\norganizational effectiveness, and science and engineering education.\u0026nbsp; She\nholds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University, and is a Fellow of the\nSociety of Women Engineers and the Association for Women in Science.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cstrong\u003EAbstract:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nWomen\u0027s participation and status in the sciences and engineering has increased\ndramatically over the last 50 years.\u0026nbsp; In her talk, Daniels will share\nshare her perceptions of, and involvement in, the progress that has\noccurred.\u0026nbsp; She will describe policies and practices that have had\nsignificant impact on women\u0027s numbers and status in education and employment in\nsciences and engineering; and share strategics for advancing women in\nscientific fields.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EReception follows\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ERSVP: \u003Ca href=\u0022mailto:mary.fox@gatech.edu\u0022\u003Emary.fox@gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u0027Women in Science and Engineering: Policies, Practices, and Potential\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Center for Study of Women, Science, and Technology (WST) Distinguished Lecture, Co-sponsored with College of Engineering:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBy: Jane Z.
