Caddell, \u0026nbsp;ARCH 1952, and his wife, Joyce, have made a seven-figure commitment that will be used to renovate the existing School of Building Construction facility. In acknowledgement of their generosity, the facility will be named the John A. and Joyce K. Caddell Building.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cRenovation of our facility has been a top priority for quite some time,\u201d said School of Building Construction Chair Daniel Castro. \u201cThrough their very generous gift, John and Joyce Caddell are enabling us to remain competitive with much larger building construction programs both regionally and nationally. This gift will absolutely transform our facility and the education that we offer our students, and we are tremendously grateful for this opportunity.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cI wanted Georgia Tech\u2019s Building Construction students to have the best start that they can possibly have,\u201d said Caddell, a Montgomery, Alabama, resident who has previously served on the Georgia Tech Advisory Board and was one of the first recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Career Achievement Award presented by the Building Construction Program. \u201cOur gift will lead to an increase in both the size and quality of the program\u2019s facilities, and hopefully that will translate into a stronger educational experience and even better career prospects for our graduates.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECaddell has certainly made the most of his career prospects. Since its formation in 1983, Caddell Construction Co.\u2014which Caddell founded and continues to serve as chairman\u2014has emerged as a major\u0026nbsp;player in both domestic and international markets. The Caddell project record includes U.S. diplomatic facilities, federal courthouses, prisons, high-tech research and development centers, hospitals, airports, hotels, power plants, manufacturing facilities, military barracks and housing complexes, and a long list of unique specialty projects. Recent projects of note include the U.S. Embassies in China and Afghanistan, eighteen other U.S. embassies\/consulates around the world, and four facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
