This course will introduce the concept and history of universal design (UD), and will discuss similarities and differences between UD and specialized design. The Principles of Universal Design will be introduced. The course will provide information regarding universal and accessible design for use of and interpretive interaction in a variety of public spaces, including recreational, entertainment, cultural, healthcare, and interactive venues.

3. Have an understanding of other anti-malware tools available.

The Malvern Instruments’ Zetasizer ZS measures particle size (0.3 nm to 10 μm) via dynamic light scattering (DLS) with backscatter optics and zeta potential using electrophoretic light scattering (ELS). This tool can also be used to measure molecular weight (as low as 342 Dalton). Aqueous and organic solvents can be used, with samples as small as 12 μl, and controlled temperature (0-90 ºC).

Exemplary community design is key to exemplary development. This Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable will deconstruct the term "community design" and explain its meaning and how it contributes to sustainable development practices. The session will also address when and by whom design decisions are made. Attendees will gain an understanding of design fundamentals in the built environment and what they might do to support the design process as a means to reach goals in sustainability, smart growth, urban living and public health.

Panelists:

• Dan Margalit received the NSF CAREER Award in 2010 with a proposal entitled “Group-Theoretical, Dynamical, and Combinatorial Aspects of Mapping Class Groups.” Dr. Margalit is an assistant professor in the School of Mathematics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2003. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Utah from 2003 to 2008, and was an assistant professor at Tufts University 2008 from 2010 before arriving at Tech.  His main research interest is the mapping class group, which describes symmetries of surfaces. 
• Maysam Ghovanloo received the NSF CAREER Award in 2010 with a proposal entitled “Brain-Tongue-Computer Interfacing.” He is an assistant professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Georgia Tech Bionics Lab. His professional background is in electrical engineering, integrated circuit design and biomedical engineering. Dr. Ghovanloo’s research interests include implantable microelectronic devices, neuroprostheses and assistive technologies.
• Yajun Mei received the NSF CAREER award in 2010 with a proposal entitled "CAREER: Streaming Data Analysis in Sensor Networks." Dr. Mei is an associate professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He received a Ph.D. in mathematics with a minor in electrical engineering in 2003 from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and has also worked as a postdoctoral fellow in biostatistics for two years in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Dr. Mei’s main research interests are change-point detection and sequential analysis in statistics and their applications in engineering and biomedical sciences.

The event will include workshops and sessions throughout the day, but students may attend for as many or few of sessions as they choose. 

Registration and more information, including a full schedule and descriptions of each workshop, is available online from the Graduate Student Government Association. 

The main portion of the day will be comprised of fourworkshops, each hosted by one of the consulting firms present. Each studentgroup will rotate through 45-minute workshops until all workshops have beenattended. Students will be able to discuss career advice and employment opportunities with company representatives. Dress code is business casual.
