Boston on Unemployment Rate

“The unemployment rate ticked up a little bit from 8.1% to 8.2%, only 69,000 jobs created. So that's less than half of what economists had predicted would be created,” said Thomas "Danny" Boston, professor in the School of Economics. “It's bad on the surface and better underneath. [There is] a net increase of almost 1 million people having come into the labor market over a period of two months and the unemployment rate only ticked up by 0.1%. That means some significant jobs have been created.” Source: CNN – June 1, 2012
