  <title><![CDATA[Cool Insights: An Integrated Framework for Managing Standards and Operations of the Food Industry]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Donald Ratliff, executive director of the Supply Chain &amp; Logistics Institute (SCL), and Amar Ramudhin, director of SCL, recently co-authored the Cool Insights column for the June 2012 issue of <em>Food Logistics</em>, titled “<a href="http://www.foodlogistics.com/article/10727601/an-integrated-framework-for-managing-standards-and-operations-of-the-food-industry">An Integrated Framework for Managing Standards and Operations of the Food Industry</a>.”&nbsp; For the column, Ratliff and Ramudhin discuss the Food Integration Reference Model that is being used at the Georgia Tech Integrated Food Chain Center (IFC), and how the model provides a framework for developing and maintaining standards.&nbsp;</p><p>For the past three years, faculty, staff, and partners of the Georgia Tech Supply Chain &amp; Logistics Institute’s IFC have contributed their thoughts on various aspects of the food chain to <em>Food Logistics Magazine</em> under a column called Cool Insights.</p><p>Previous installments of the Cool Insights column:</p><p><em>Food Logistics,</em> <a href="http://www.foodlogistics.com/article/10710579/the-value-of-supply-chain-visibility-traceability-is-just-the-start"><em>April/May 2012</em></a>: Susan Wilkinson, a Subject Matter Expert with IBM Global Business Services, authored the Cool Insights column titled “The Value of Supply Chain Visibility: Traceability is Just the Start.”&nbsp;</p><p><em>Food Logistics, </em><a href="http://www.foodlogistics.com/article/10657334/cold-chain-management-tools-assessments-and-audits"><em>March 2012</em></a><em>: </em>David Sterling, partner with Sterling Solutions and co-founding member of IFC, authored the Cool Insights column titled “Cold Chain Management Tools: Assessments and Audits.”&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]></body>
