{"147891":{"#nid":"147891","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Join Dialogue at 2012 Diversity Symposium","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EDonna Ennis takes the time to attend Georgia Tech\u2019s annual Diversity Symposium because it offers an opportunity to learn what the Institute is doing in this area and provides a forum for offering her feedback. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe must participate so that leadership can hear our ideas and thoughts,\u201d added Ennis, a project director in the Enterprise Innovation Institute. \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis year\u2019s symposium, themed \u201cAchieving Inclusive Excellence: Challenges and Opportunities,\u201d will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Global Learning and Conference Center.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cOne of the things I enjoy most about the event is that it\u2019s an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to come together and have candid discussions,\u201d said Archie Ervin, vice president for Institute Diversity. \u201cWhat you say does matter to Tech\u2019s leadership, and we walk away from events like this symposium with a better idea of what we\u2019re doing right and what might need improvement.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPresident G. P. \u201cBud\u201d Peterson will provide the welcome to this year\u2019s event, which will include a panel of faculty and staff members from Tech, who will discuss challenges and opportunities for the Institute. A community conversations activity will be held in the afternoon to \u0026nbsp;allow groups to identify issues related to building community at Tech and provide recommendations on addressing them.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe keynote address will be delivered by Johnetta B.
