149201 profile 1345807423 1352737742 <![CDATA[Karen M. Gravel]]> Karen Gravel is a Visiting Lecturer at the College of Architecture. She teaches Women in Architecture – a seminar that examines how women have and are affecting the field of architecture. She is also a Senior Associate and registered Architect with Lord, Aeck and Sargent, Inc. where she practices in the Historic Preservation Studio.

She has worked on several major restoration, rehabilitation and preservation projects including the Hinman Research Building, the Restoration and Preservation of the Hill House at Andalusia—the home of Flannery O’Connor, Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Building, the Georgia State Capitol, Fort Christiansvaern and Historic Buildings at Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI, Pasaquan, Ebenezer Baptist Church and several smaller restoration projects for the National Park Service. She has also supported, Ryan Gravel, her husband, and his work with the Atlanta Beltline.  She balances her studies and work with the care of their two children. In many ways her life is a direct extension and laboratory for her research interests.
