SPA hosts Stadium Debate]]></title>  <uid>27714</uid>  <body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p><p>As part of&nbsp;the annual celebration of World Town Planning Day, Georgia Tech’s Student Planning Association hosted a panel discussion on 5 November about the proposals for a new Atlanta Falcons stadium.&nbsp; The student group invited Representative Mike Dudgeon (R), Representative Rashard Taylor (D), Reverend Anthony Motley, and&nbsp;Georgia Tech's Dr.&nbsp;Benjamin Flowers to present the concerns and promote the opportunities that a partially tax-payer funded project could bring the city. First Generation students are underrepresented in overseas activities, networking pursuits, and career development, and these mobility scholarships will provide resources and opportunities for First Generation students to enhance their on campus education.</p><h6>Definitions for Qualifying Students:</h6><p>• First Generation College Student as reflected by the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file or updating an incomplete FAFSA form through <a href="http://www.finaid.gatech.edu/">Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid</a>.</p><p>•&nbsp;3.0 GPA and full time Student as determined by submission of official transcript.</p><p>• Demonstrated financial need as determined by Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. &nbsp;All mobility grants are for additional experiences and activities beyond the costs of a Georgia Tech degree.&nbsp; As such, any student with established need can receive mobility scholarships without reducing their need for on campus educational costs.&nbsp;</p><h6>Four Programs:</h6><p>1.&nbsp;<strong> Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship Tier 1</strong>: Up to $500 for any qualifying Georgia Tech student from any major at both the graduate and undergraduate level to participate in off campus career development, professional development, and educational programs such as academic conferences within the United States.&nbsp;</p><p>2.&nbsp; <strong>Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship</strong> <strong>Tier 2</strong>: Up to $1000 for any qualifying Georgia Tech student from any major at both the graduate and undergraduate level to participate in overseas activities such as internships, study abroad, exchange, and work abroad.&nbsp;</p><p>3.&nbsp; <strong>Coca-Cola Sam Nunn School Major First Generation Scholarship:</strong> Up to $4000 for qualifying INTA/IAML/EIA majors at both the undergraduate and graduate level to participate in activities that include San Nunn School-sponsored study abroad programs, work abroad, internships, exchange programs, and Washington DC career development program. &nbsp;</p><p>4.&nbsp; <strong>Coca-Cola Sam Nunn School Program First Generation Scholarship:&nbsp;</strong> Up to $4000 for any Georgia Tech qualifying student from any major at both the graduate and undergraduate level to participate in Sam Nunn School-sponsored study abroad programs and Washington DC career development program. &nbsp;For Summer 2013 any Georgia Tech qualifying student from any major can receive up to $4000 for the <a href="http://gteustudyabroad.weebly.com/">European Union Program</a>&nbsp;or the <a href="http://argentina2013.weebly.com/">Argentina/Brazil Program</a>.</p><h6><strong>Process:</strong></h6><p>Students must submit complete <a href="http://www.inta.gatech.edu/sites/default/files/coca_cola_application.pdf">application form</a>, two one-page narratives about how the proposed activity will enhance their education, and an official transcript to <strong>Coca-Cola INTA Program</strong>, 781 Marietta ST NW, Atlanta, GA, 30318 (Campus Box 0610).&nbsp; Applications will be reviewed three times per year with application deadlines <strong>20 November 2012, 20 January 2013, and 20 March 2013</strong>. &nbsp;Awards notification will be sent to Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and to the student with the award letter noting that the award is subject to additional verification that they meet the First Generation and Need requirements.&nbsp;</p><p>Students must be US Citizen or Green Card holders and fill out the on-line FAFSA and Georgia Tech Scholarship and Financial Aid Form (GTAPP) (Both available at <a href="http://finaid.gatech.edu/">finaid.gatech.edu</a>).</p><p>Students are strongly encouraged to have direct deposit set up through the <a href="http://www.bursar.gatech.edu/">Bursar’s Office</a>.&nbsp;</p><p>Students must verify participation in proposed activity though documentation sent to <strong>Coca-Cola INTA Program</strong>, 781 Marietta ST NW, Atlanta, GA, 30318 (Campus Box 0610) within one month of last day of activity.&nbsp;
