{"171251":{"#nid":"171251","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Zoe Zhang and Paul Lorenc win GIS Day Poster Competition","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe\u0026nbsp;2012 GIS Day Poster\u0026nbsp;Competition, co-sponsored by the Center for GIS and the Student Planning Association,\u0026nbsp;was held\u0026nbsp;last Wednesday,\u0026nbsp;November 14th in the\u0026nbsp;East Building of the College of Architecture.\u0026nbsp;This year\u0027s winner for Best Applied GIS Poster\u0026nbsp;is \u003Cstrong\u003EZoe Zhang\u003C\/strong\u003E for her\u0026nbsp;work on Urban Growth and Green Infrastructure, and the winner of Best Cartography was awarded to \u003Cstrong\u003EPaul Lorenc\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;for his map of Florida\u0027s Colonial Heritage.\u0026nbsp;All entries into the competition\u0026nbsp;can be viewed at the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.prism.gatech.edu\/~ag124\/GISDay2012.pdf\u0022\u003EGIS Day 2012 Gallery\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe\u0026nbsp;poster competition is part of the GIS Day Celebration started in 1999 by Jack Dangermond, president of Esri. Dangermond envisioned GIS Day as a grassroots effort to promote geography and the application of GIS.
