Rachel Dean-Ruzicka Publishes Article on Wes Anderson

Second-year Brittain Fellow Rachel Dean-Ruzicka (who received her Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University) recently published an article in The Quarterly Review of Film and Video 30.1 (2013): 25-40. "Themes of Privilege and Whiteness in the Films of Wes Anderson" discusses Anderson's first five films: BOTTLE ROCKET (1996), RUSHMORE (1998), THE ROYAL TENENBUAMS (2001), LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU (2004), and DARJEELING LIMITED (2007). The article argues that Anderson's films largely use non-white characters to reinforce the invisible normalcy of whiteness.
