Sphingolipid levels are controlled by a complex metabolic network. We have constructed a computational model of this network which allows for investigation of the effects of the immunomodulator FTY720 on sphingolipid metabolism in different cell types. The model results have important implications for potential therapeutic modulation of sphingolipid metabolism in many diseases. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENick Willett, PhD - Advisor, Robert Guldberg, PhD\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u0022Quantitative Screening of Novel Therapeutics to Treat Osteoarthritis\u0022\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOsteoarthritis (OA) is a large clinical burden with no interventions to modify disease progression. We evaluated two prospective disease modifying treatments in a surgically induced rat model of OA. This study demonstrated that EPIC-\u00b5CT has the sensitivity to evaluate the efficacy of OA therapies.
