For the past decade, perineuronal nets (PNNs) have been considered a critical regulator of both neuroplasticity and neural regeneration. We look at the specific function of PNNs in the rodent barrel cortex and how this and other studies have begun to question this model.

"A Single Cell Approach to Analysis of Heterogeneity Within Immune Cell Populations"

A growing body of evidence shows that even genetically identical cells can be phenotypically heterogeneous, and that this can have functional consequences. We theorize that such non-genetic differences affect immune function and use emerging techniques for single cell analyses to detect such heterogeneity in immune cell populations. The resulting information will help us develop methods for data-driven predictions of individual immune profiles.

]]> The Graduate and Post-Doc (GaP) Seminar Series is a weekly event of research presentations by two graduate students or post-docs conducting bio-related research.  The series is organized and sponsored by the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB) with additional support from the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering.
