  <title><![CDATA["Tech Gets Medieval" Symposium Now Available on SmarTech]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Presentations from the fall 2012 symposium "Tech Gets Medieval: How Medieval Technology Can Teach the Past" are now available at Georgia Tech's SmarTech repository. Access the talks <a href="https://smartech.gatech.edu/handle/1853/46004/browse?type=title" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p>The symposium was organized by <strong>Kellie Meyer</strong>, a Brittain Fellow in the <strong>School of Literature, Media, and Communication</strong> (LMC), and colleagues from different areas of specialty across Georgia Tech.</p><p>Presenations include:</p><ul><li>"The Afterlives of Gawain: Illustration as Annotation in the Cotton Nero Ax Manuscript," by <strong>Leah Haught</strong>, LMC Brittain Fellow</li><li>"Biology and Germ Warfare," by&nbsp;Chrissy Spencer, academic professional in the School of Biology</li><li>"Blacksmithing and Timber-Framed Houses: Pedagogy of Risk," by <strong>Hugh&nbsp;</strong><strong>Crawford</strong>, LMC associate professor</li><li><strong>"</strong>Medieval Construction – Foundation of&nbsp;Today's Industry," by&nbsp;Brian Bowen, professor of the practice in the College of Architecture</li><li>"Neo-Medieval Fantasy in Video Games," by&nbsp;<strong>Celia Pearce</strong>, LMC professor</li><li>"Tried and True Methods," by Krystina&nbsp;Madej, LMC visiting assistant professor</li><li>"Your Mission is to Rescue Lorenzo di Medici: A Demonstration of the Pedagogical Potentials of Using Assassin's Creed II for Teaching the Italian Renaissance," by&nbsp;Amanda Madden, LMC Brittain Fellow</li></ul><p>The symposium also includes opening remarks made by <strong>Rebecca Burnett</strong>, professor in LMC, and <strong>Richard Utz</strong>, chair of the school.</p>]]></body>
