Plans for this conversation emerged from the awarding of the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ivanallenprize.gatech.edu\/home\/\u0022\u003E2012 Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage\u003C\/a\u003E to Dr. William Foege and Georgia Tech\u2019s year-long conversation about science, race and ethics spurred on by \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/enrichment.gatech.edu\/firstyear-reading-program\/2012\u0022\u003EGeorgia Tech\u2019s First-Year Reading Program\u003C\/a\u003E for 2012-2013, \u003Cem\u003EThe Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe 60-minute conversation will explore the ways that compassion and concern for others has returned as a vital element in the education at colleges and universities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EA reception with light refreshments will be held immediately following the program.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStudents, faculty, and staff from Agnes Scott College, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College, and Spelman College are invited to attend.\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech president G.P. \u0022Bud\u0022 Peterson joins four other university presidents -- Dr. Elizabeth Kiss (Agnes Scott College), Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum (Spelman College), Dr. James W.
