Integrating these factors requires reflection and prioritizing one\u2019s goals. The summer months may offer a great opportunity for students to consider long-term options that extend beyond the next semester at school.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThese are reflection questions your student may consider:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhat activities do I most enjoy? (both academic and extra-curricular)\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhat do I get absorbed in doing \u2013 so much so that I lose track of time?\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhat comes so easily that it feels like breathing to me?\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EHow would my friends describe what I am good at?\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhat needs to be done in the world? How\/Where would I contribute?\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EEncourage them to examine:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EA major decision they have made\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThe contributing factors in that decision\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EHow they would prioritize those factors\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs you can probably surmise, this is both subjective and an ongoing process rather than an operation of data analysis; it may require an investment of time to bring this decision to closure. Simultaneously, this is a period of growth and transition for young adults as they mature and recognize the importance of doing what\u2019s best for themselves.
