  <body><![CDATA[<p><strong>Painted aluminum and stainless steel, 2007<br />13.2' H x 6.2' D x 10' W <br />Location: Noonan Courtyard west of Klaus <br /></strong></p><p><strong>Artist: Verina Baxter</strong></p><p><em><strong>Artist Bio:</strong></em></p><p>Verina Baxter changed careers and began working as a sculptor in the mid 1990's.&nbsp; Originally stone was her material of choice.&nbsp; Today stainless steel and/or bronze have become equally important in her indoor work.&nbsp; Her outdoor sculptures have a more playful attitude and are constructed of powder coated or painted aluminum and stainless steel.</p><p>In addition to her career as a sculptor, Verina has maintained a deep commitment to the arts community. She is founder and&nbsp;past president of Mid-South Sculpture Alliance, MSA. She serves on both the Membership and Conference committees for the International Sculpture Center, ISC.&nbsp; She is&nbsp;a board member of Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga where she has been both secretary and fundraising co-chair.&nbsp;&nbsp;Currently she is on the Development Committee and was co-chair of the Selection Committee for Spectrum 2007 for Hunter Museum of American Art.&nbsp; Verina&nbsp;was a member of the City of Chattanooga Public Art Committee, the City of Chattanooga Public Art Master Plan Steering Committee and the Public Art Transition Committee for the 21st Century Waterfront.</p><p>Verina's education includes the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the Loveland Academy of Fine Arts in Loveland, Colorado, and the Abruzzi Mountain Art School in Anversa degli Abruzzi, Italy.
