"Freshman and Their Issues" on Consilience with Pete and Charlie

If you enjoy eavesdropping on faculty conversations, come to the Clough Lounge on July 25 at 5 p.m. to hear an open, honest, and funny dialogue during a live recording session for Georgia Tech's newest podcast "Consilience with Pete and Charlie."

It's a fresh and funny take on the hopes, fears, and disgust that comedian and engineering professor Dr. Pete Ludovice and librarian Charlie Bennett have for teaching and learning in higher education.

This Thursday's show tackles "Freshman and Their Issues" in front of a live audience of freshman in suite 205 of the Clough Commons. Pete and Charlie will share how they think can help freshman adapt to, and thrive in, the college environment.

"When you start school, there are a lot of resources to help you succeed socially, academically, and professionally -- Pete and I want this show to be another one of those resources," said Charlie. "Then we'll let the freshmen in the audience ask questions or tell us how stupid and misguided we are."

Through this podcast, they hope to make "the ivory tower" more accessible, and to inspire students and teachers to take risks. For each episode, they pick a starting topic and talk for an hour, no matter where the conversation leads. Whether it's making fun of Taco Bell or discussing quantum mechanics, their quick, comedic discourse dissects perfect moments of consilience at the intersection of science and the humanities.

New episodes of "Consilience with Pete and Charlie' are available every week on http://peteandcharlie.tumblr.com/.
