He highlighted recent successes, including the mention by President Obama of Georgia Tech\u2019s online Masters degree in Computer Science, the opening of the AT\u0026amp;T Foundry in Tech Square and the visit to campus by the new Secretary of Commerce.\u0026nbsp; The congressional staffers also saw demonstrations and briefings that highlighted expertise in \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.gtri.gatech.edu\/strategic-initiatives\/cyber-operations\u0022\u003Ecybersecurity\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.innovations.gatech.edu\/wearable\/\u0022\u003Ewearable technologies\u003C\/a\u003E, and \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.gatech.edu\/newsroom\/release.html?nid=208451\u0022\u003Esensor systems for healthcare applications\u003C\/a\u003E. Gary May, dean of the College of Engineering, delivered a lunch presentation discussing challenges and opportunities presented with the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.innovationdeficit.org\/\u0022\u003Einnovation deficit\u003C\/a\u003E facing the nation and the importance of federal funding for research.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cGeorgia Tech has many interests before Congress, from research funding to student aid,\u201d said Tech federal relations director Robert Knotts. \u201cThe visit was a great opportunity to tell our story through Tech\u2019s faculty and students who are so passionate about the impact their work can have.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EParticipants also learned about Tech\u2019s music technology, digital media and K-12 outreach prowess in an interactive workshop.
