She got her B.S.E. degree at the University of Pennsylvania, PhD in Bioengineering with Robert Sah, PhD, at the University of California, San Diego, and completed her postdoctoral training with Robert Nerem, PhD, at Georgia Tech. In addition, Ahsan worked in industry for a few years at the tissue engineering company Advanced Tissue Sciences.
