Electrical engineering placed fifth and computer engineering ranked sixth, the same positions as last year, and both disciplines ranked third in their fields among public universities. The College of Engineering ranked fifth, and Georgia Tech retained its seventh place standing among public universities. Three other Georgia Tech initiatives – internships, senior capstone design, and undergraduate research – are also cited in U.S. News' "Academic Programs to Look For" section. 

“Our success in ECE can be attributed to our innovative and internationally renowned academic and research programs, but none of these things would be possible without the hard work and commitment of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Steven W.
