{"237541":{"#nid":"237541","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Special Seminar\u2013Dr. Andrew Teplyakov","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EA special seminar featuring Dr. Andrew Teplyakov from the University of Delaware will take place on Monday, September 23, at 4 p.m. in Ford ES\u0026amp;T, room L1255.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E______________\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESelf-Limiting Surface Reactions on Semiconductors:\u0026nbsp;Functionalization, Film Growth, and\u0026nbsp;Nanostructure Formation\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ERecent trends in coupling chemical functionality with desired\u0026nbsp;semiconductor surfaces will be\u0026nbsp;explored in this presentation. We will start\u0026nbsp;with a brief historic perspective on reactivity of\u0026nbsp;multifunctional organic and\u0026nbsp;organometallic compounds on clean group IV semiconductor surfaces\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;expand this approach to include chemically functionalized and\u0026nbsp;\u0022multifunctional\u0022 surfaces and\u0026nbsp;tunable chemical reactivity of surfaces. The\u0026nbsp;complexity of surface structures produced even in\u0026nbsp;reasonably simple\u0026nbsp;chemical processes will be highlighted based predominantly on\u0026nbsp;spectroscopic and\u0026nbsp;microscopic surface analytical techniques. Examples of\u0026nbsp;understanding local surface structures\u0026nbsp;supported by DFT calculations will\u0026nbsp;be given.
