{"251961":{"#nid":"251961","#data":{"type":"event","title":"So You Think You Want to Flip?","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EHave you heard that many Georgia Tech faculty are now offering their lectures online\u003C\/em\u003E?\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EDo you want to explore new ways to target learning objectives that your students are struggling to achieve\u003C\/em\u003E?\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EDo you want to learn more about best practices for flipping a class\u003C\/em\u003E?\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMany faculty across campus are experimenting with flipping their classes--there are eight faculty members in Civil and Environmental Engineering alone.\u0026nbsp; Engineering has the largest cadre of flippers but Institute-wide, from Mathematics to Business, the flipped model is a growing trend.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESo far the \u201cflipped\u201d approach seems to be improving student learning at Georgia Tech and increasing faculty satisfaction with teaching as well.\u0026nbsp; However, like any pedagogical approach, the key is effective implementation.\u0026nbsp; We can move the delivery of content online, but we then have to be smart about what we do with the class time this frees up.\u0026nbsp; On the other hand, some of us want to spend more time working with students in class to help them master critical concepts and skills, but we don\u0027t want to move lecture content online to make this possible.
