This talk will give an introduction to MIR describing the research field. It will outline typical approaches and give examples for applications.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESpeaker Bio:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAlexander Lerch works on the design of new digital signal processing\u2028 algorithms that extract information from music. Lerch received his Diplom-Ingenieur in telecommunications and his Ph.D. in music performance analysis from the Technical University of Berlin. He is co-founder of the company \u0022zplane\u0022 - a research-driven technology provider for the music industry. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Music at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
