{"279801":{"#nid":"279801","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Fraternity Served with Interim Suspension for Conduct Violations","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech\u2019s \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/studentaffairs.gatech.edu\u0022\u003EDivision of Student Affairs\u003C\/a\u003E has informed the Alpha Rho chapter of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity that it has been\u0026nbsp;placed on interim suspension, effective immediately, pending the completion of an investigation into alleged violations of the Institute\u2019s student code of conduct. The national office for Phi Kappa Tau is in agreement with Tech\u2019s decision to issue the suspension.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn addition, two students have been suspended from Georgia Tech, also pending the outcome of the investigation. Both students are members of Phi Kappa Tau.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDuring a suspension, a chapter ceases any organizational activities, including all planned functions at its campus residence. The investigation, assigned to the Dean of Students\u2019 Office of Student Integrity, is ongoing.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis chapter was sanctioned last fall, when the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/fraternity.gatech.edu\/about\u0022\u003EInterfraternity Council (IFC)\u003C\/a\u003E determined that Phi Kappa Tau violated the fraternal code of conduct, resulting in social probation through May 4, 2014.
