{"287791":{"#nid":"287791","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Tech Students Needed to Take on Shadows","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EStudent organization FirstGen will host its semesterly Shadow Day on Friday, April 11, and needs Georgia Tech students to show high school students what life is like as a Yellow Jacket.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe day will allow 60 high schoolers to visit campus, learn more about college life and the application process, and get answers to any questions they may have.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe main reason I came to Tech was because a student showed me around,\u201d said Cassee Cain, a second-year chemical engineering student who took on a shadow student last semester. \u201cI enjoyed the personal experience I received and want to share this same experience with a prospective student.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFirstGen, which focuses on serving students who are the first in their families to attend college, is seeking volunteers to sit on a panel to answer general student questions, as well as to take on shadow students for a couple hours that afternoon. Shadow Day begins with information sessions about admissions and major decision, followed by the panel, shadowing a student, and a campus tour.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStudents willing to participate should \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1g3nule2rgeVM5Ar2STm8sa3Lw7iqSio38pdJrXi8YvM\/viewform\u0022\u003Efill out an online application\u003C\/a\u003E by Friday, April 4. Lunch is provided.
