  <title><![CDATA[Top Leaders in Their Fields to Discuss Sustainability at Scheller’s May 1 Event]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Major corporate executives and other thought leaders on the environment will converge at Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, to discuss “The Sustainability Advantage: The Art and Science of Creating Sustainable Value.”<br /><br />Hosted by the Center for Business Strategies for Sustainability (CBSS), the panel discussion in LeCraw Auditorium of Scheller College (800 West Peachtree Street) will feature:</p><ul><li>John Brock, chairman and CEO, Coca-Cola Enterprises</li><li>Mike Duke, retired president and CEO, Walmart</li><li>Phil Martens, president and CEO, Novelis</li><li>Tom Murray, vice president (corporate partnerships), Environmental Defense Fund</li><li>Beril Toktay, professor of operations management, Brady Family chair holder and CBSS faculty director, Scheller College</li><li>Heather McTeer Toney, regional administrator, EPA Region 4</li></ul><p>“Join us for an engaging event that will highlight what's new in sustainability at the Scheller College of Business, provide a venue for discussion and networking, and feature a conversation with corporate, NGO, government, and academic leaders,” welcomes Toktay.<br /><br />CBSS Managing Director Howard Connell, who will moderate the panel discussion, adds: “We look forward to providing a forum for this critical discussion on how we can collectively use the power of business, technology, and innovation to create a sustainable future. Our vision is of one that has both a thriving economy and thriving ecosystem supported.<br /><br />“Business, technology and innovation will be critical pieces to solving some of the greatest challenges of our generation,” he says. “But these solutions will require collaboration and partnerships that are multi-disciplinary and across sectors.”<br /><br />The May 1 event, which will run from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (including a reception in Thornton Atrium), will include opening remarks by Georgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson, Scheller College Dean Steve Salbu, and representatives of the Ray C. Anderson Foundation (which enabled creation of CBSS through a grant in early 2013).<br /><br />The event is free, but space is limited.
