Mentor Interns determine their weekly work schedules and have the option of working at the high school only or at the middle and high schools. Mentor Intern duties are:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EHigh School Duties\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003ETutor mathematics, science, and the SAT\/ACT each week.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMeet with students weekly to complete activities that assist in preparing for postsecondary matriculation such as college and scholarship research, resume writing, and completing applications.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWork at Meadowcreek High School.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ESpecific work schedules will be determined later but work hours must fall within school hours of 7:15 AM - 2:15 PM\u0026nbsp;Monday\u0026nbsp;through\u0026nbsp;Friday and 2:00 \u2013 4:00 p.m. during after school tutoring on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EMiddle School Duties\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWork in teams of 2 to engage a group of 15 students in weekly hands-on STEM activities.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWork with students to create a blog to document their experiences in the program.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWork at Lilburn and\/or Radloff Middle Schools.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWork on Tuesdays\u0026nbsp;and\/or\u0026nbsp;Wednesdays\u0026nbsp;from 4:00 \u2013 7:00 p.m.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAll Mentor Interns are required to work 20 hours per week from\u0026nbsp;August 18 \u2013 December 5, 2014 if they enroll in the Fall semester and January 12 \u2013 April 24, 2015 if they enroll in the Spring semester.\u0026nbsp; Mentor Interns must attend a mandatory pre-service training on a Friday evening and Saturday as well as attend monthly two-hour trainings throughout each semester.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;Funding and Credit Hours\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMentor Intern positions qualify forsix internship audit credit hours through the Georgia Tech Division of Professional Practice. Interns do not pay tuition or fees for the audit credit hours. The GoSTEM program provides the funding for the internships.\u0026nbsp; The pay rate is $11 hour for the entire program. Overtime pay is not available.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EEmployment Responsibilities\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EInterns will abide by all policies set forth by the GoSTEM program and the Georgia Tech Division of Professional Practice.\u0026nbsp; Interns are responsible for carrying out all assigned responsibilities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;Eligibility \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003Ecurrent Georgia Tech student and in good academic standing\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003Emust pass a criminal background and sexual predator check\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003Emust receive clearance from a financial aid advisor if receiving assistance\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003Emust receive clearance from an academic advisor\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003Emay not be employed elsewhere by Georgia Tech\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStudents receiving financial aid must discuss the internship with a financial aid advisor before applying since some grants and scholarships have minimum credit hour requirements and other specific policies.
