294071 news 1398853002 1475896578 The Georgia Tech School of Music is wrapping up another successful year with is music technology MS and PhD programs. Some highlights of the 2013-2014 academic year included:

- students designing, building, and showcasing new musical instruments in Tim Hsu’s musical acoustics course
- students composing electroacoustic music in Jason Freeman’s computer music composition course (available as an album on Spotify) 
- the 2014 Guthman Musical Instrument Competition, featuring over 20 competitors from around the world, guest judges David Zicarelli and Young Guru, and a special student research showcase
* the first-ever performance by the Georgia Tech Laptop Orchestra, showcasing six new works created by music technology students
- students creating musical architecture in collaboration with students from industrial design, human-computer interaction, and architecture, along with artists-in-residence New Orleans Airlift
- students developing new audio software and plugins for Alexander Lerch’s new course in audio software engineering

This summer, students will pursue internships and begin full-time jobs at some of the world’s leading music technology companies, including Pandora, Gracenote, Moog, and The Echo Nest, while others will stay at Georgia Tech over the summer to pursue research with GTCMT faculty in areas such as robotic musicianship, sonification, and STEAM education.

The GTCMT thanks our students for an incredible year and wishes our graduating students the best of luck as they move on to the next stage of their careers.
