Goonan Student, Carlos Duralde, is One of 10 ISEF Winners

Carlos was a student in Goonan's Science Fiction Novel class in Fall 2012, and the title of his story is "Lost Dreams." The students had the choice of writing a story for the contest instead of submitting a final paper. Goonan, herself an award winning writer, critiqued all of their stories, encouraged them to submit to other markets, and continued to update them when she heard of opportunities.

Goonan explains that she routinely encourages her students to enter contests and submit their stories for publication because feedback from the real world is one of the best ways to gauge how one is progressing as a writer.

The ISEF award comes with a prize of $1,000.00 and publication of Carlos' story.

For more information about the contest and the winners, go to http://isef.tomorrow-projects.com/results/
