At the conference dedicated to empirical research in international trade, Besedes presented his paper titled \u0022Trade Agreements and the Fragility of Trade Relationships\u0022 (co-authored with\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/faculty-and-staff\/faculty\/bio\/cruz_1\u0022\u003E Juan Moreno-Cruz\u003C\/a\u003E [ECON] and Volker Nitsch of Darmstadt Technical University). The paper made evident that international trade agreements make already existing trade relationships more stable and larger, while they have the opposite effect on trade which starts after the agreement. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOn June 17, 2014, Besedes presented his paper \u0022The Effects of Airspace Closures on Trade in the Aftermath of Eyjafjallaj\u00f6kull\u0022 at the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.parisschoolofeconomics.eu\/en\/research\/seminars\/paris-trade-seminar-pse\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EParis Trade Seminar\u003C\/a\u003E jointly organized by the Paris School of Economics, University of Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne, and Sciences Po.
