  <title><![CDATA[Professor Abdallah Ougazzaden Awarded the City of Metz Medal]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Professor Abdallah Ougazzaden, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology at Georgia Tech, was awarded the City of Metz Medal in Metz, France, by Dominique Groz, the city’s Mayor. Ougazzaden was recognized for his for his role in the establishment of the L’Institut Lafayette, a $37 million technology transfer facility affiliated with the Georgia Tech Lorraine Campus, and for the establishment in 2006 of the first CNRS France-Georgia Tech international partnership laboratory, Georgia Tech-CNRS UMI 2958.</p><p>Professor Abdallah Ougazzaden received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Materials Sciences and his HDR "Accreditation to Supervise Research" degree from the University of Paris VII, Paris, France in 1986, 1990, and 1996, respectively. Ougazzaden joined the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005 as Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In 2006, he was appointed to the position of Director of the International Joint Research Unit GT-CNRS at Georgia Tech Lorraine in France, and in 2010 he was appointed to the position of Director of Georgia Tech-Lorraine. Professor Ougazzaden is also currently Vice President of L’Institut Lafayette. Ougazzaden was also honored for his leadership in research and economic development in the fields of telecommunications and new materials in the Metz region.</p><p>&nbsp; -Christa Ernst</p>]]></body>
