  <title><![CDATA[Yaszek Publishes Essay on Black Genius in Science Fiction]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Lisa Yaszek, LMC professor and director of undergraduate studies, recently published an essay that explores the centuries-old tradition of African-American authors that have modeled stories about black scientific genius on the figure of Revolutionary-era free black scientist Benjamin Banneker.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Yaszek's essay appears in the anthology, <em>Black and Brown Planets: The Politics of Race in Science Fiction</em> (2014), which was edited by Isiah Lavender and published by the University Press of Mississippi.</p>]]></body>
