{"343231":{"#nid":"343231","#data":{"type":"news","title":"New Library Exhibit Features Vintage Electronics","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EWhat do Palm Pilots, reel-to-reel tape decks, and transistor radios have in common?\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThey\u2019re all obsolete electronics featured in the Georgia Tech Library\u2019s latest exhibit - \u003Cem\u003EretroTECH\u003C\/em\u003E. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESo far, the \u003Cem\u003EretroTECH\u003C\/em\u003E exhibit showcased an early wearable device loaned by Associate Professor Thad Starner, a Commodore 64 computer, the first pocket-sized scientific calculator, Apple\u2019s first portable computer, modems from the 1980s and \u201890s and much more.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECurrently displaying in the Library West Commons, \u003Cem\u003EretroTECH\u003C\/em\u003E is a crowd-sourced exhibit of treasured technology from the personal collections of Georgia Tech faculty, staff, students, and alumni. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EViewers are invited to explore the personal side of our technological lives \u2013both in-person and online \u2013 by coming to the Library and voting online for their favorite items. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022It\u2019s been amazing to see the amount of interest the Georgia Tech community has in vintage technologies.
