{"351171":{"#nid":"351171","#data":{"type":"event","title":"School of Architecture Lecture Series: Marlon Blackwell","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe School of Architecture Lecture Series is pleased to present a lecture by Marlon Blackwell, FAIA, on Wednesday, April 1 at 2pm in the Reinsch-Pierce Auditorium, titled \u0022Is it Safe to Say, Most Architecture Isn\u0027t Very Good?\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMarlon Blackwell is a practicing architect in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and serves as Distinguished Professor and Department Head in the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas. His architecture is based in design strategies that draw upon vernaculars and the particular elements of place. His design work has received recognition with numerous national and international design awards and significant publication in books, architectural journals and magazines.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAmongst many awards and honors, most recently the office of Marlon Blackwell Architects was recognized as the Firm of the Year by Residential Architect magazine in 2011, won AIA National Honor Awards in 2012 and 2013, the 2011 Civic and Community Building category at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona, Spain, and the 2012 Architecture Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. \u0022An Architecture of the Ozarks: The Works of Marlon Blackwell\u0022 was published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2005.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to teaching at the University of Arkansas, where he has co-taught design studios with Peter Eisenman, Christopher Risher, and Julie Snow, he has held prestigious visiting appointments at Cornell, UVA, MIT and many others. He received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1980 and a M.
