{"373331":{"#nid":"373331","#data":{"type":"event","title":"National Council on Disability Visit to Georgia Tech","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe 15 members of the National Council on Disability\u0026nbsp;came to Georgia Tech\u2019s Ferst Center for the Arts on Oct 6, 2014 to engage with GT scholars whose research aims to impact the lives of people with disabilities. Provost Rafael Bras and NCD Chairperson Jeff Rosen opened the event with welcoming remarks.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe NCD is an advisory group to President Obama and Congress that meets quarterly to discuss policies, programs, practices and procedures that affect people with disabilities. Examples of research highlights: Real-time Captioning on Google Glass for Individuals with Hearing Loss; Digital Inclusion and Emergency Communications; Use of Social Media to Promote Social Engagement of Adolescents with Autism; Multimodal Displays for Accessible Education, Entertainment and Driving; Technologies to Support Successful Aging with Disability; Universal Design Ballot Interfaces for Voters with and without Vision Loss.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAt the end of this successful event, NCD Chairperson Jeff Rosen expressed his enthusiasm with the comment \u201cWhat Georgia Tech has accomplished is mind-blowing\u2026our Council is very impressed with the cutting edge research happening here!\u201d\u0026nbsp; Georgia Tech Vice President for Institute Diversity, Archie Ervin, echoed Rosen\u2019s excitement stating \u201cThis event was incredible\u2026it demonstrated how we here at Georgia Tech approach these challenges from so many different disciplines.
