  <title><![CDATA[University of North Georgia Post-Baccalaureate Initial Teaching Certification program deadline]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The Post-Baccalaureate Program is for students who hold a bachelor’s degree or above and wish to obtain a Georgia teaching certificate. This one year program includes both face to face instruction, as well as online course work. Cohorts typically meet 2-3 evenings each week depending on the class, while concurrently completing assignments via educational, interactive websites. Participants will complete a six week practicum and a seventeen week internship in a classroom that corresponds to their chosen content area. Each course completed earns students Professional Learning Unit (PLU) credits, not including classes taken for additional content purposes.</p><p>New cohorts begin in June of each year.</p><p><a href="http://ung.edu/teacher-education/_uploads/files/PBApp-Summer2015.pdf"></a></p><p><a title="Post-Baccalaureate Summer 2015 Application" href="http://ung.edu/teacher-education/_uploads/files/PBApp-Summer2015.pdf" target="_blank">Post-Baccalaureate Summer 2015 Application</a></p><h2>Choosing a Content Area</h2><p>Initial teacher certification is offered through the Post-Baccalaureate program in P-12, middle grades and secondary education areas, <strong>excluding special education and early childhood education.&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The Georgia Professional Standards Commission requires that initial certification in a teaching field must match the degree obtained. &nbsp;Transcripts will need to be reviewed to determine area of initial certification <strong>before</strong> admission to the program.</p><h3><strong>Cost</strong></h3><p>This program is non-degree seeking and only allows individuals to obtain a teaching certificate; therefore, government financial aid is not available. (Credit is earned as Professional Learning Units approved by the Georgia Department of Education.)</p><table border="1" cellpadding="5"><tbody><tr><td width="110"><p><strong>Please Note:</strong></p></td><td><p>Government funding includes any money, grant, student loan, etc. acquired as a result of completing the FAFSA.</p></td></tr></tbody></table><p>The total cost of $7,500.00 includes the courses. Payment is divided into three separate installments of due before the start of each semester.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;Students will be responsible for purchasing a LiveText account, edTPA submission, student liability insurance, and textbooks.</p><h3><strong>Admission</strong></h3><p>In order to apply, those interested must meet or have completed each of the following requirements:</p><ol start="1"><li>Pass or exempt the GACE Basic Skills Exam.</li></ol><table border="0" cellpadding="0"><tbody><tr><td valign="top"><p>The following test scores allow exemption:</p></td><td><p>SAT - 1000 or higher (Verbal and Math scores combined)<br /> ACT - 43 or higher (English and Math scores combined)<br /> GRE - 301 or higher (revised scoring as of Jan 2011) OR 1030 or higher (old scoring) ***Verbal and Quantitative scores combined ***</p></td></tr></tbody></table><ol start="2"><li>GACE Content Area Exam must also be passed at the Professional level before program entrance. <a href="http://ung.edu/teacher-education/graduate/post-baccalaureate-teacher-certification.php#">Visit the GACE website.</a></li><li><a href="http://gace.ets.org/about" target="_blank">Georgia Educator Ethics Exam</a></li><li><a title="Verification of Lawful Presence Form" href="http://ung.edu/teacher-education/_uploads/files/VLPforms.pdf" target="_blank">Verification of Lawful Presence Form</a></li><li><a title="Pre-Service Application" href="http://ung.edu/teacher-education/_uploads/files/Pre-Service%20Application.pdf" target="_blank">Georgia Pre-Service Application</a></li><li>Possess a final college grade average of 2.7 or higher.
