{"387461":{"#nid":"387461","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Nunn School Students Take Career Trip to DC","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ELast week, 12 Nunn School students went on a two-day trip to Washington D.C. for career-related activities.\u0026nbsp;This annual Washington DC Career Visit is a signature of our career development program, designed to provide students with connections and exposure to professional networks.\u0026nbsp;On Thursday\u0026nbsp;afternoon, students\u0026nbsp;visited with the Partnership for Public Service, and met with alumni on staff, as well as an alumni representative from the US Department of State.\u0026nbsp;Alumni shared their inspirations for pursuing careers in\u0026nbsp;service, discussed skills and competencies often valued by federal agencies,\u0026nbsp;and shared tips and best practices for applying for positions in the federal government.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EA day-long briefing was held\u0026nbsp;on Friday\u0026nbsp;at the\u0026nbsp;Center for Strategic and International Studies, where the students met with scholars\u0026nbsp;and discussed\u0026nbsp;current events such as ISIS, the Ukraine Crisis, and Cybersecurity.\u0026nbsp; ThatFriday\u0026nbsp;evening, approximately 45 students and alumni attended a reception at GTRI in Arlington where students were able to network with alumni and receive valuable career advice.\u0026nbsp; While they were in DC, students completed individual networking interviews with alumni in their career fields of choice.
