Each year since 1992, the Eno Center for Transportation has invited America’s top graduate students in transportation-related fields to spend a week in Washington, DC, to learn how transportation policies are developed from those who develop them. Beyond providing an introduction to “how Washington works,” the Leadership Development Conference is intended to motivate students to continue their transportation studies and to foster early professional development.

The Eno Future Leaders Development Conference is designed for students in transportation-related programs, including engineering, planning, public policy, public administration, economics, management, and law. Nominees are identified by their home university, and must demonstrate leadership ability and the potential to assume a senior role in a transportation-related organization in the future.

Hylton has been working as a graduate research assistant for the Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development (CQGRD) since August of 2012. He is advised by Dr. Catherine Ross, director of the CQGRD and Professor of City and Regional Planning at Georgia Tech. Hylton’s work has focused on, freight modeling, port-related traffic, health impact assessments, private-sector logistics and supply chains, and megaregion transportation planning and analysis

Hylton’s work in transportation has been recognized previously. In the summer of 2014, Hylton was selected as a recipient of a Dwight Eisenhower Graduate Fellowship, which enables students to pursue master’s degrees or doctorates at the school of their choice. He is also a Presidential Fellow, which helps defray the cost of his doctoral level studies. Additionally, he was selected by the School of City and Regional Planning faculty to receive the Outstanding Service Award for 2014. “Peter is a talented student with a bright future,” Ross said.
