  <title><![CDATA[Loukissas Awarded a Center for Urban Innovation Research Development Seed Grants]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Yanni Loukissas, assistant professor of digital media in the <strong>School of Literature, Media, and Communication</strong>, has been awarded grant from the <a href="http://www.urbaninnovation.gatech.edu/"><strong>Center for Urban Innovation</strong></a>(CUI) for his proposal <em>Local Data: a Critical Coding Interface to Zillow.com.</em> <br /></p><p>The Center for Urban Innovation supports research that thinks globally, acts locally, and encourages interdisciplinary, scholarly research on urban issues and the expanding role of innovative institutions in the design and governance of resilient regional economies. </p><p>Serving as an incubator for faculty research initiatives as they grow and partners within Georgia Tech as well as with other universities, non-profits, civic organizations, public agencies, and industry partners focused on strategies for building sustainable communities, the CUI is a portal connecting Georgia Tech’s expertise to the broader stakeholder community locally, nationally, and internationally.</p><p><em>Yanni Alexander Loukissas is a designer and ethnographer with a focus on the role of computation in cooperative practices of exploration and imagination. Before coming to Georgia Tech, he was a lecturer at the&nbsp;Harvard Graduate School of Design. His research and teaching concentrate on the cultural dimensions of data, mapping, modeling, visualization, simulation and prototyping.</em><br /></p><p><br /></p>]]></body>
