Among the key research initiatives identified as priorities for near future research, included:  Define values of smart buildings from FM perspectives; Value structuring; Operational level use of new technologies; Aging workforce within FM; and Big data implications for FM.  All of these issues sub-topics which will provide researchers a broad base to launch new research projects, as well as expand existing basic research in these areas.  Key themes for standardization focused on the strategic, tactical and operational levels of built environment management, with numerous sub-topics, as well.  Participants praised the outcomes and attendees left energized toward continuing the interactions developed in Atlanta during the symposium.
