{"415081":{"#nid":"415081","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Institute of Paper Chemistry Foundation Awards $1.8 Million Grant to IPST","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Institute of Paper Chemistry Foundation has awarded The Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST) a $1.8 million Legacy Grant to support development of a professional master\u2019s degree in manufacturing leadership -- forest bioproducts.\u0026nbsp; It will also provide significant support for other elements of Georgia Tech\u2019s graduate education program in paper science and engineering, and forest bioproducts.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cGeorgia Tech\u2019s proposal met our request for ideas that could create a lasting legacy for the Institute of Paper Chemistry educational mission,\u201d said Dr Jim Ferris of the Foundation Board of Trustees.\u0026nbsp; \u201cWe were particularly attracted by the opportunity to enhance career growth opportunities for working professionals at paper industry manufacturing sites.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe are very pleased and encouraged by this gift,\u201d said IPST director Norman Marsolan. \u201cThe concept of the proposed degree springs from the future leadership needs expressed by the paper industry.\u0026nbsp; We look forward to working with the Foundation, the industry, and key departments within Georgia Tech to realize the potential this grant presents.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETransfer of the total award is contingent upon satisfactory progress against milestones to be developed soon.\u0026nbsp; It is anticipated that the transfer will be completed in 2014.
