The following professors, researchers and students will again command the room come September as they discuss important developments in their respective fields:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPh.D. Student \u003Cstrong\u003EAdam McLaughlin\u003C\/strong\u003E, Senior Research Scientist \u003Cstrong\u003EE.\u003C\/strong\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EJason Riedy\u003C\/strong\u003E, and Chair \u003Cstrong\u003EDavid A. Bader\u003C\/strong\u003E from the School of Computational Science \u0026amp; Engineering (CSE) will present \u0022An Energy-Efficient Abstraction for Simultaneous Breadth-First Searches,\u0022 on September 17, in Waltham, Mass., at the 2015 I\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ieee-hpec.org\/\u0022\u003EEEE High Performance Extreme Computing (HPEC) Conference\u003C\/a\u003E. HPEC \u201815 is the largest computing conference in New England and is advertised as the premier conference in the world for the convergence of high-performance and embedded computing.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPh.D. Student \u003Cstrong\u003EAnita Zakrzewska\u003C\/strong\u003E (CSE) will present a paper at the 11th \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ppam.pl\/\u0022\u003EInternational Conference on Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics\u003C\/a\u003E (PPAM \u201915) in Krakow, Poland from September 6-9. Zakrzewska is focused on large-scale, streaming graph problems and is advised by Chair David Bader. Also, Bader, Associate Professor \u003Cstrong\u003ERich Vuduc\u003C\/strong\u003E, and Joint Professor \u003Cstrong\u003EJeffrey Vetter\u003C\/strong\u003E from CSE are on the tentative list of keynote speakers for this conference.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWearable technology researchers in the School of Interactive Computing are preparing for the 19\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C\/sup\u003E I\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/iswc.net\/iswc15\/\u0022\u003Enternational Symposium on Wearable Computers \u003C\/a\u003E(ISWC \u201915) in Osaka, Japan, Sept 7-11. Professor \u003Cstrong\u003EThad Starner\u003C\/strong\u003E (IC); PhD Student \u003Cstrong\u003EAbdelkareem Bedri\u003C\/strong\u003E (CS); Senior Research Scientist \u003Cstrong\u003EPeter Presti\u003C\/strong\u003E and Research Scientist \u003Cstrong\u003EScott Gilliland\u003C\/strong\u003E of the Interactive Media Technology Center, and Research Scientist \u003Cstrong\u003EClint Zeagler\u003C\/strong\u003E, Institute for People \u0026amp; Technology, and professor in School of Industrial Design, will lead a two-day workshop called \u201cWear \u0026amp; Tear: Constructing Wearable Technology for the Real World.\u201d The workshop discusses how wearable tech devices and systems are built for durability, and what has been learned while prototypes for research. The group also is awaiting word about the acceptance of papers into the conference.\u0026nbsp; ISWC \u201915 is dedicated to research about on-body and mobile technologies.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EVuduc\u003C\/strong\u003E (CSE) was among the creative young engineers invited to the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.nae.edu\/Projects\/MediaRoom\/20095\/130169\/140147.aspx\u0022\u003ENational Academy of Engineering\u0027s US Frontiers of Engineering Symposium\u003C\/a\u003E this September in Irvine, Calif. Two other Georgia Tech professors -- \u003Cstrong\u003EAnna Erickson\u003C\/strong\u003E, assistant professor, Nuclear \u0026amp; Radiological Engineering, and \u003Cstrong\u003EBrian German\u003C\/strong\u003E, associate professor, Aerospace Engineering -- also will attend. Participation at the symposium is by invitation only following a competitive selection process.
