Don\u0027t miss this lively, informal discussion of the aesthetic, political, and economic factors that have shaped the redefinition of art, its production strategies, and global distribution. \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Cem\u003ESylvie Fortin\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E is an independent curator, art historian, critic, and editor who has worked internationally since 1991. She became Editor-in-Chief of ART PAPERS in October 2004, working with the organization\u0027s staff and board to redesign ART PAPERS magazine, which is widely recognized as a leading international contemporary art publication. ART PAPERS is now available on newsstands worldwide, and counts subscribers in over 50 countries. She became Executive Director\/Editor of ART PAPERS in November 2007 and has spearheaded the organization\u0027s ongoing redefinition. \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EFortin was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Ottawa Art Gallery (Ottawa, Ontario, 1996\u20142001), Program Coordinator at la chambre blanche (Quebec City, Quebec, 1991-1994), and a long-term collaborator with OBORO (Montreal, Quebec, 1994-2001). Her critical essays have been published in Canadian, American and European catalogues, and her reviews have appeared in many periodicals including Art Press, C Magazine, Espace, Fuse, NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art and Parachute. \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EShe has received numerous significant grants and awards as a critic and curator, as well as for her academic research.
