{"428321":{"#nid":"428321","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Casting Call for Petit Scholar Mentors","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003ESteven Spielberg, who has made some of the most highly acclaimed movies of the past 40 years, once said, \u201cThe delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003EIf you are a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow in the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience, here is your chance to follow the advice of an Academy Award winning film director.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003E\u201cThe Petit Undergraduate Research Scholars program is looking for mentors right now to help foster the next wave of creative undergrads,\u201d says Colly Mitchell, program administrator. \u201cThis is a chance for our talented grad students and postdocs to gain some valuable mentoring and project management experience while also furthering their own research interests.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003EMentors also receive $2,000 for travel to scientific conferences or materials and supplies for the lab. The mentor experience provides for a strong CV builder since most employers prefer Ph.D.\u2019s with project management experience.
