Naturally, this can seem a little overwhelming to students when they consider their options in deciding which chapter is right for them. The fraternities and sororities at Georgia Tech are grouped under four governing boards, each with their own unique recruitment and membership process. The following is a brief overview of each governing board and related recruitment events.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ECollegiate Panhellenic Council\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) is the governing body for nine national sororities: seven National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities, and two national associate member sororities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECPC will host formal recruitment for the seven NPC sororities August 13-18. Female students interested in joining an NPC sorority are required to register for formal recruitment online at\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.panhellenic.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewww.panhellenic.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;before 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 13. Formal membership recruitment only occurs in the fall semester.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe two associate member chapters, Alpha Delta Chi and Alpha Omega Epsilon, will host their recruitment period during the week of Sunday, August 23 at 5:30 p.m. Visit the \u201cChapters\u201d page at\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.panhellenic.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewww.panhellenic.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;to find out more about the specific times, dates, and locations. Associate chapter recruitment occurs in the fall and spring.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EInterfraternity Council\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing board for Tech\u2019s 32 inter\/national fraternities. IFC hosts rush August 13-18, and registration is required. Interested men can find the online form on the IFC website,\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.fraternity.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewww.fraternity.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E. Registration allows interested students to provide biographical, involvement, and legacy information to the fraternities for their use in the rush process. Although registration is required, rush is an informal, relaxed period of time when the chapters host events to meet and get to know potential new members for the fraternity.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIFC encourages interested students to visit about ten (10) fraternities during the rush process. To this end, IFC hosts a Rush Kickoff on Thursday, August 13 at 6 p.m. at the Ferst Center for the Arts. Immediately following this kickoff event, students will have the opportunity to visit the fraternities. Official Rush events will be held at various fraternity houses and other locations near the Greek Sector each night of the week and conclude on Tuesday, August 18. All rush events occur from 7-11 p.m.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAlso on Sunday, August 16, IFC will conduct Parents Rush at 7 p.m. to allow families to attend activities with their students. Since many parents will be on campus for Convocation (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.nssp.gatech.edu\/plugins\/content\/index.php?id=101\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ehttp:\/\/www.nssp.gatech.edu\/plugins\/content\/index.php?id=101\u003C\/a\u003E) that evening, this gives parents a time to meet current members, alumni, and parents of current members of the different fraternities. Food is provided by the fraternity chapters.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIFC also holds rush in the spring semester with most of the 32 chapters participating.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMulticultural Greek Council\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the governing body for five culturally based and cultural interest fraternities and sororities. The chapters of the MGC coordinate and implement their own new member recruitment processes. MGC will cohost a Greek Convocation on September 9 at 7 p.m in the Student Center Ballroom.\u0026nbsp;Students interested in learning about the MGC fraternities and sororities are also encouraged to attend a barbeque to meet all the members of the MGC chapters and learn about their intake process on August 24. Information about the Multicultural Greek Council and its chapters can be found at\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.mgc-gatech.com\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewww.mgc-gatech.com\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ENational Pan-Hellenic Council\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for seven historically African American fraternities and sororities. There are four fraternities and three sororities in NPHC. The chapters coordinate and implement their own new member process, which is commonly referred to as \u201cmembership intake.\u201d NPHC will cohost a Greek Convocation on September 9 at 7p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.\u0026nbsp;Students interested in learning about the NPHC fraternities and sororities are encouraged to come out to the convocation event to meet all the members of the NPHC chapters and learn about their intake process. Information about NPHC and the member chapters can be found at\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.nphc.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewww.nphc.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAll students who wish to pursue membership in an NPHC organization must attend a mandatory information session where basic information and policies governing intake are covered.
