Internet Governance Project Comes to the School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech

After more than a decade at Syracuse University, the Internet Governance Project (IGP) is now part of the School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech. The move comes along with Georgia Tech’s recruitment of Milton Mueller, who departs from the Syracuse School of Information Studies to join the School of Public Policy. Postdoctoral researcher Brenden Kuerbis, one of IGP’s key contributors, will also be working for Georgia Tech as of mid-August.

Founded in 2004, IGP has grown to be a leading source of analysis of global Internet policy and Internet resource management. Its blog posts and publications are widely read by governments, industry and civil society organizations. IGP puts expertise into practical action in the fields of global governance, Internet policy, and information and communication technology, participating directly in Internet governance institutions like the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD-ICCP). The goals of IGP are to:

Inform and shape Internet public policy choices by providing independent analysis and timely recommendations.

Identify and analyze new possibilities for improving global governance institutions.

Develop policy positions guided by the values of globalism, democratic governance, and individual rights.

IGP will continue to be an independently funded and operated center that bridges scholarship and participation in Internet institutions. At Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy, IGP will be in a rich environment for public policy-related research and analysis. It will be able to work more closely with one of IGP’s original partners, Hans Klein, and will have stronger connections to Tech’s world-renowned researchers in computer science, privacy and international relations. Plans are underway for a seminar series and workshops in the fall of 2015 and the spring of 2016. Join Mueller and Kuerbis for the inaugural lecture of the Information and Communication Technology Policy Speaker Series on September 16th. They will discuss the IGP project Beyond Technical Solutions: Understanding the Role of Governance Structures in Internet Routing Security. Learn more about the event.

revisit them. It's as though the act of writing the thing down frees me
