  <title><![CDATA[Daniel Castro Moderates at Global Summit]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>A 2-day summit focused on the latest "Internet of Things" (IoT) innovations that are helping to change society and explore key policy issues for IoT, was held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, October 26-27, 2015.&nbsp;</p><p>Daniel Castro, Professor and Chair, GT School of Building Construction, moderated &nbsp;a key panel on "Connected Living-At Home and in the City". The panelists, from industry and government, focused on issues regarding cities and homes adoptiong IoT technologies and solutions to help address challenges of city life-waste management, traffic congestion, and energy usage. Participants addressed the role between private sector and governments, and explored how to implement latest technology and opportunities.&nbsp;</p><p>The IoT Summit, received bipartisan support from a Senate Resolution and the launch of a Congressional Caucus on IoT. Congresswoman Suzan DelBene and EU Ambassador to the US, David O'Sullivan delivered the keynote presentions.&nbsp;</p><p>In addition to Castro's panel on Connected Living, other topics included: Security for IoT, Privacy in a Connected World, Healthcare &amp; Wearable Technology, Smart Retail, and the Connected Car.</p><p>For more information on GT School of Building Construction, Connected Living, or Castro's current research on defining and implementing performance evaluation protocols for technology innovation in the built environment, please contact Dr. Castro at: daniel.castro@coa.gatech.edu&nbsp;</p>]]></body>
